In Chhattisgarh, three security personnel were killed and five others were injured in two separate incidents of Maoists attack on security forces in tribal Bastar Lok Sabha constituency that goes to polls tomorrow.
Our Correspondent reports that three security personnel were killed and three others were injured when Maoists ambushed a joint team of CRPF and district police force personnel near Chintagufa area of Sukma district and opened indiscriminate fire at them.
The 50-member team of security personnel was returning after escorting a polling team to Buraklanka polling booth in Bastar constituency. Security forces exchanged fire and engaged Maoists in an encounter, leading to their retreating to the forests.
In another incident, two security personnel were injured when Maoists triggered a blast targeting a road opening party near Gangaloor in Bilaspur district.
Both the injured CRPF personnel were given first aid at a hospital in Bijapur from where they were airlifted to a hospital in the state capital for advanced treatment.
Maoists have given a call for boycott of elections due to which elaborate security arrangements are in place in Bastar constituency to ensure smooth conduct of polling process.
