3 militants, 1 civilian killed in Kupwara encounter; Army personnel injured

In Jammu & Kashmir, four persons including three terrorists and one civilian were killed and one army officer injured in a fierce gunfight that broke out between terrorists and army today morning near Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. The area is around 160 Kms in north of Srinagar headquarters.<br/><br/>An Army spokesman told AIR that Army foiled attempted suicide attack in which three unidentified militants were killed. He said the trio tried to sneak into the Army camp in Tangdar sector who fired indiscriminately killing a civilian. The civilian was working with Military Engineering Service (MES). <br/><br/>The spokesman added that a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was also injured in the encounter that began early morning today. Militant outfit Jaish e Mohammad claimed its three members carried out the attack. <br/><br/>In July this year, Army foiled two infiltration bids in which five militants were killed and two army personnel injured in Keran and Tangdar sectors in the district.
