In Jammu and Kashmir three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed and an army jawan lost life in a fierce encounter with Army, Police and Security Forces in border district of Rajouri in Jammu Division. The encounter had started between militants and Security Forces yesterday in forest area of Shahra Sharief and concluded today at around noon. While two militants were gunned down yesterday , the third militant continued to engage the security forces in the encounter and got finally gunned down today. The trio were believed to be hard core Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and part of the outfit which had ambushed an Army Convoy near Thanamandi on Wednesday (11th August) and attacked a passenger bus in which two persons including a lady had got killed and twenty others had sustained injuries.AIR Correspondent reports, in the joint operation launched by Army, Police and other para-military forces, Army lost one jawan while one Army major, one police personnel and a civilian also received gun shots during the two day long encounter. According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, R.K. Jalla, the identity of two slain militants has so far been ascertained and they are Abu Ali and Azeefa Qamar, both Pakistani nationals. However, identity of the third militant who was gunned down today is yet to be ascertained. Army and Police have recovered three AK rifles , One satellite phone, mobile phones besides a large quantity of ammunition and explosive material from the site of encounter.Killing of three militants in the same area where Army Convoy and a passenger bus were attacked on Wednesday last has given rebuff to certain leaders of the area who had sought a judicial probe into the said incident as it has now got confirmed that the ultras had fired at the passenger bus in which two passengers were killed.
