In Iraq, three people were killed and nine injured in two bomb explosions in eastern Baghdad. A police official said the deadliest blast struck the market in the Shiite-dominated Zafaraniya neighbourhood, killing two people and wounding six others. The second bomb, which targeted a police patrol in the same neighbourhood, killed one civilian and wounded three more.
