3 killed and 16 injured in two bomb explosions in Iraq

In Iraq, three people were killed and 16 others injured in a car bomb and bomb explosions in the eastern province of Diyala today. <br/><br/>A police source said in central Baquba, the capital of Diyala province, a booby-trapped car detonated at a crowded intersection where several popular restaurants are located, killing three people and wounding 14 others.<br/><br/>The source said the blast apparently targeted a police patrol tasked with securing the convoy of the provincial governor adding that the patrol's policemen were having breakfast at one of the restaurants when the blast took place. <br/><br/>Three of the patrol's policemen were among the wounded. The powerful blast destroyed a police vehicle and caused damage to several nearby restaurants and civilian cars.<br/><br/>In a separate incident, two policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in the town of Baladruz, some 30 kilometes east of Baquba.<br/>
