3 killed 1000 injured in clashes between protesters and riot police in Cairo

The Egyptian government said that three people were killed and more than a thousand were injured in clashes between protesters and riot police in the capital Cairo. Security forces have sealed off the roads around the Israeli embassy which have been attacked by rioters. The protesters threw stones and set cars afire. Riot police used tear gas and fired shots to disperse them. An Israeli official said, this incident was a serious blow to the fabric of peace between Israel and Egypt. He said, there have been real concern for the safety of six members of staff who were trapped inside the Israeli embassy during the attack. He said, they were released by the Egyptian commandos.The violence marks a sharp increase in tensions between Egypt and Israel. Egypt is one of the only two Arab countries to have a peace deal with Israel. But anti-Israeli sentiment is growing more vocal since the fall of the former President Hosni Mubarak.
