Assam police has arrested three persons suspected to be involved in rhino poaching from Karbi Anglong and Dimapur. State Law and Order IGP L R Bishnoi today said that, acting on a tip off, police arrested two former rebel of Karbi People’s Liberation Front, KPLT from Howraghat of Karbi Anglong while another poacher was arrested from Dimapur in Nagalnad.Police is interrogating all of them. Mr. Bishnoi also said that police and security forces have already intensified operation to nab the culprits involved in rhino poaching. Poachers have killed 11 rhinos this year at Kaziranga National Park which is known as the World Heritage site. A 50 member team of Assam Forest Protection Force has already been sent to the National Park to protect its inhabitants. Another team will reach Kaziranga on Saturday. Assam government would also set up a State Wildlife Crime Control Bureau to deal with poaching and smuggling of animal products. According to the recent census, Assam has recorded two thousand 505 rhinos, out of which 2290 rhinos were found in the Kaziranga National Park.
