Three persons have been detained in connection with vandalising the statue of former Chief Minister, Ms. Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Nav Nirman Sena,a little known political outfit has claimed responsibility for the incident. Director General of U.P. Police, Ambrish Chandra Sharma told reporters in Lucknow that FIR has been lodged and an inquiry is being conducted into the reported intelligence failure. The Chief Minister, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has condemned the incident.
