The three-day special session of Maharashtra Assembly began in Mumbai today. Assembly proceedings have started and the newly elected MLAs are taking oath in the House. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will seek the vote of trust on the concluding day of the session. But the whole picture about the stability of the Devendra Fadnavis Government will depend on Shiv Sena’s final stand. BJP’s estranged ally Shiv Sena is showing the signs of aggression against BJP. Shiv Sena’s newly elected MLAs criticized BJP Minister Eknath Khadse outside Vidhan Bhavan for his decision about Urdu education in Marathi schools today. They were also seen sitting on the opposition benches.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe today said that there is no discussion going on between BJP and her party regarding the support and the party can also claim for the post of speaker in the assembly. At the same time Shiv Sena’s newly elected leader of the legislature party Eknath Shinde said that his party can claim for the post of the leader of the opposition. In the backdrop of the ongoing events, NCP is expected to make the picture somewhat clear in today’s press conference in the evening. While Congress today elected Senior leader Radha Krishna Vikhepatil as the leader of the legislature party. But the whole picture will be clear only after Shiv Sena’s final stand.
Newly appointed Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley today expressed confidence that differences with Shiv Sena will be resolved soon. Talking to media after assuming charge of the Ministry, Mr Jaitley said that some problems take care of themselves. He was responding to a media query about Shiv Sena's threat that it will sit in opposition if the BJP takes any kind of support from the NCP. Yesterday, Shiv Sena gave a stern warning to the BJP against taking any type of support from NCP to run the new government in Maharashtra.
