A three day Krishi Unnati Mela is being organised in New Delhi from 19th of this month to exhibit the latest agriculture and allied technologies to farmers. Announcing this, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said all round development of agriculture and empowerment of farmers are the priorities of the government.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, and give away Krishi Karman Awards 2014-15 to eight states. These states are Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Meghalaya, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The objective of these awards is to encourage and motivate the states to enhance production and productivity of rice, wheat, pulses, coarse cereals and oilseeds.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports the theme pavilion will have eight zones including agro-climatic variety in India, soil health, animal husbandry and fisheries. Around 500 stalls will be set up and more than one lakh farmers are expected to participate in the event from all over the country.
