3 Congress officials injured in a powerful explosion in Guwahati

In Assam, at least three Congress Party officials were injured when a powerful explosion took place at the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) office at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati this evening. According to party sources, the miscreants hurled a bomb inside a room on the back-side of the Rajiv Bhavan. Some portion of the building has reported to have damaged. The party spokesmen Akshay Rajkhowa and Mehdi Alam Bora besides the general secretary Ranjan Bora were hurt due to the blast. All of them were taken to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital immediately. They are stated to be out of danger.The APCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita was supposed to arrive at Rajiv Bhavan on his return from New Delhi at the time of the blast. Senior police officials have arrived on the spot and started the investigation. A massive manhunt has been launched in and around the Guwahati city to apprehend the culprits behind the blast. Meanwhile, the anti-talk faction of the ULFA, led by Paresh Baruah has claimed responsibility of the blast.
