In Kerala, three children lost their lives when the school bus they were travelling fell into a deep canal at Kaniyapuram in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday evening. The ill fated vehicle was carrying 23 children, all of them below the age of 12. Timely rescue by the local people and security personnel saved the lives of 17 children. The condition of three children is serious.Police sources and eye witnesses said that, immediately after the accident, six children were saved by the local people. Rescue and relief operation is on by Indian Navy personnel, CRPF and State Police. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and opposition leader, V.S. Achutanandan visited the accident site to monitor, rescue work.
