On Day 1 of the Barbados Cricket Test, Veteran VVS Laxman ably supported by Suresh Raina on Tuesday helped the visitors India amass a decent 201 in their first innings against the West Indies at the Kingston Oval. It was a calamitous start for the Indian team as they were 38 for 4, after being inserted into bat by West Indies Skipper Darren Sammy in overcast conditions. VVS Laxman then scored a typically classy 85 alongside Suresh Raina who made a valiant 53. It was their 117-run fifth wicket stand because of which India averted a total collapse as West Indian paceman Ravi Rampaul ripped through the visiting team's top order earlier in the day. For the Windies, Ravi Rampaul, Fidel Edwards and Devendra Bishoo scalped three wickets each. At stumps, the West Indies were 30 for 3 with Ramnaresh Sarwan and night-watchman Devendra Bishoo at the crease.
