2nd phase of Kerala local body polls in progress

In Kerala, the second phase of election to local self government institutions is in progress on Monday. One crore twenty three lakh voters spread across seven districts of the state will be exercising their franchise.Polling started at 7 AM and 26 per cent polling has been recorded in the first four hours of voting. Alappuzha, Eranakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts are going to the poll on Monday.Long queues of women and elderly people are seen in polling booths especially in tribal and minority dominated areas. As per initial reports, like the first phase of voting, polling per centage is to go up considerably.The first phase of election recorded 75.33 per cent polling evoking surprise even in major political parties. Result of the keenly watched election will be announced on Wednesday.
