2nd ODI between India and England to be played in Cuttack today

The second ODI between India and England will be played in Cuttack today. After their sensational three-wicket win in the first match at Pune, a buoyant India will now be looking forward to wrap-up the three-match series with a repeat performance in the second game at Barabati Stadium. Notwithstanding the stepping down of all office-bearers of host Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), including president Ranjib Biswal and secretary Asirbad Behera from their posts, honouring the Supreme Court verdict, all arrangements have been made to make the second ODI a smooth and successful event. If the predictions of OCA curator Pankaj Patnaik prove true, today's contest would be as high-scoring as the series opener at Pune, thus giving a 45,000 capacity crowd an opportunity to savour a run feast. Under the exemplary leadership of Virat Kohli, who was made India captain for all three formats of the game after the stepping down of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the home team made a sizzling start in the ODI series. Chasing an imposing target of 350, India rode on a century each by Kohli and allrounder Kedar Jadhav to romp home with 11 balls to spare. The duo stitched together a formidable partnership of 200 runs for the fifth-wicket to carry the team to the doorstep of the victory, which was capped by an unbeaten 40 from Hardik Pandya. At one stage, the hosts were struggling with four wickets down for 63 runs.Overall, the Pune win proved that Team India has become a supremely confident side in all three formats of the game.
