2nd meeting of G20 Digital Economy Working Group begins in Hyderabad; Focus on digital public infrastructure and cyber security

With a focus on digital public infrastructure, cyber security and skilling, about 140 delegates from member countries, invitee countries and international organisations will be deliberating upon various issues during the three-day meeting.<br />''</span><br />''In his inaugural address, Minister of State for Communications and IT Devusinh Chauhan during said the government's focus is on bridging the digital divide.  He said all villages in the country will be covered by broadband facilities by 2025. Stating that India is working on 6-G technology, he said efforts are underway to cover the uncovered and for last-person connectivity in the digital economy.<br />''<br />''Earlier, Minister of State Social Justice and Empowerment A Narayanaswamy emphasised the need for the empowerment of vulnerable sections in digital technologies and the digital economy. Stating that the government has taken several measures for the same, the minister called for multi-stakeholder participation in the deliberations for an inclusive and sustainable digital economy.  He said digital technologies have been the driving force behind the development and are enhancing various services at every corner of the country. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Secretary DoT Rajaraman said the internet can change the course of life and transform governance and livelihoods. He said the policy matters like connecting the unconnected,  opportunity of collaborating on essential digital inclusion technologies must be deliberated upon during the meeting.  He laid emphasis on making the standards be inclusive. Digital technologies should be inclusive of access and affordability. He also said it is important to work together to bring down the costs of digital technologies.</span><br />
