The Kerala High Court on Monday rejected the bail application of two accused arrested in the second Marad massacre case. The second incident of communal clashes took place almost a year after the first incident. The bail applications were moved by the accused Nizamuddin and K P Hydrosekutty. Justice K T Shankaran accepted the prosecution's contention that the trial in the case will be affected if the accused jumps the bail. Eight people had lost their lives in the second Marad massacre that took place near Kozhikode on May 2, 2003.
