2nd International River Festival begins in Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, the second international river festival began on Sunday at the confluence of river Narmada and Tawa at Bandrabhan in the Hoshangabad district. State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the three day festival. <br/> <br/>He said, a composite and balanced model of development is needed to save the environment. Centuries old Indian traditions and values will have a bigger role in it. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent reports, the second international river festival began with a call to conserve our river and forest for our future. <br/> <br/>About 7-00 participants from various walks of lives including foreign representatives are taking part in it. They are discussing various reasons responsible for river pollution and different aspects of the central theme of the festival rivers and pollution. <br/> <br/>A blueprint for the future will be presented on the last day of the festival to save the river from pollution. <br/> <br/>Cultural programmes based on river conservation will be also be held during the festival. A sand figure made by famous artist Sudarshan Patnaik is centre of attraction at the festival site.<br/>
