2nd edition of GES to begin from April 21

The 2nd edition of Global Exhibition on Services, GES will begin from 21st April this year. Briefing media in New Delhi this afternoon, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, the three-day event is being organised to showcase India's strength in the sector. The focus sector this year is Banking and Financial Services, Education, Environmental Services, Green Architectural Services, Health, IT and Telecom, Logistics, media among others.<br/><br/> The exhibition will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee, would also provide a platform to the industry to explore business opportunities. Due to space constraint in Pragati Maidan, the programme this time has been shifted to Greater Noida expo mart. Ministerial delegations from more than 40 countries, 80 buyers from service sectors, 200 exhibitors, 15 states, 20 Public Sector Undertakings and 50 international companies will participate in the event. <br/><br/>The event is being orgainsed by Ministry of Commerce and Industries in association with Services Export Promotion Council and Confederation of Indian Industry. In global exports of services, India's rank has been improved from 11th to 6th during 2009 and 2013. India had a trade surplus in services segment unlike in merchandise where India runs trade deficit. It is important to boost services exports to finance the goods trade deficit.
