2nd day deliberations of G20 education working group begins in Chennai

The second day deliberations of the G20 education working group in Chennai began with discussions on building capacities, promoting lifelong learning in the context of the future of work, strengthening research and promoting innovation through richer collaboration. Discussions on the structure and key elements of the G 20 education report will be prepared today. A compendium of initiatives relating to the four priority issues and areas will be pursued by the G 20 members and guest countries. The day began with remarks by the Indian Chair, the Secretary of Higher education, K.Sanjay Murthy.<br />''<br />''The guest countries Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and United Arab Emirates also attended the education working group.<br />''<br />''Earlier in the seminar, the Secretary for Higher Education Sanjay Murthy, said that India has been emphasising on the inclusiveness in higher education, learning equitable opportunities and tech enabled learning. He underlined the need to bridge the gap between academia and the industry. The Secretary said that the new education policy will be a success formula for holistic lifelong education. The delegates expressed happiness and contentment at the ongoing discussions.<br />''<br />''On the second day today, the delegates engaged in discussions on bilaterals on education. The delegates attending the G 20 education working group had the opportunity to understand the richness of Indian Culture through a dance drama on Velu Nachiyar, the Queen of Sivaganga. The 40 minute presentation which was coorganised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Tamilnadu Tourism department enthralled the audience spellbound. Later the delegates were given a sumptuous dinner with Indian menu. On the first day, a classical dance on the five elements of Nature was displayed to the G 20 delegates. The delegates were also taken for an excursion to the UNESCO heritage site at Mamallapuram where the State Tourism department had arranged for a presentation of various folk dances of Tamilnadu. <br />
