Government today decided that the solicitor general will brief the cabinet on seeking Presidential reference from Supreme Court on the issue of 2-G spectrum allocation. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The decision on Presidential reference will be taken after the briefing of solicitor general.
The Supreme Court had observed that all natural resources must be auctioned. The government under article 143 of constitution, can seek an explanation from the Apex court on important public issues. Government has maintained that it can not complete the auctions within 4 months. It has also filed a review petition challenging one part of the judgment on auction of the natural resources.
