The Joint Parliamentary Committee, JPC, on Tuesday questioned former Telecom Secretary Anil Kumar about the objection raised by the then Finance Minister on allowing the migration package. Briefing reporters, the JPC Chairman P.C. Chacko said that Mr. Anil Kumar defended the migration package which was allowed to the Telecom Operators as per then New Policy on Telecom of 1999. He said, Mr. Kumar declared that the migration package was cleared by then Atal Behari Vajpayee Cabinet and it helped the growth of the Telecom sector. Mr. Anil Kumar, who was Telecom Secretary from 28th August 1998 to 7th February 2000, will again be called for deposition before the JPC on the 9th of this month.
