In China, twenty-nine people have been killed and 130 injured in a terrorist attack by a group of unidentified men armed with knives at a railway station in the capital city of Kunming of China's southwestern Yunnan province. State-run Xinhua news agency said it was an organised and premeditated attack. Local television station said police shot dead a number of the perpetrators at the railway station.
Fire fighters and medical workers were rushed to the scene and injured were taken to hospital for emergency treatment. More than 60 victims of the attack have been sent to hospital.
Kunming Railway Station is one of the biggest stations in southwest China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have directed a top security official to visit the city to investigate the attack which comes ahead of the meeting of Chinese parliament next week.
