In Uttarakhand, 29 persons have died and 40 others are missing following cloud bursts in 6 villages in Ukhimath Tehsil of Rudraprayag. Heavy damage to life and property has been caused .29 persons have died and 40 others are buried under the debris following a cloud burst late last night in 6 villages in Ukhimath Tehsil of Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand. The affected villages are Mangoli, Kimana, Sansari, Giriya, Chunni and Brahman Kholi. All the dead bodies have been recovered. 12 seriously injured have been air lifted by chopper for treatment to Base Hospital Srinagar. District Administration, Police and Disaster Management Team are engaged in rescue and recovery operation. 60 personnel each from the Army and ITBP are assisting in the rescue and relief operations. Food packets and dry ration is being provided to the affected people. Meanwhile, 5 persons were killed after they were swept away in the flash floods in the Saryu river following incessant heavy rains in Kapkot area of Bageshwar District yesterday. Chief Minister, Vijay Bahuguna has said that Rs 10 crore and Rs 1 crore have been sanctioned for relief work in Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts respectively.
