Himachal Pradesh has enrolled 19.5 lakh people accounting for 29 per cent of its population under Aadhaar – the brand name of the 12-digit Unique Identification number (UID) in nine months. By October, at least two districts – Una with a population of 5.2 lakh and Hamirpur with 4.4 lakh – will complete the enrolment process. Enrolments are being done in all districts of the state. The Government has a hope that after this enrolment it will be easy to identify the fake ration card holders and pensioners in the state.
