<span style="color: #222222;">Ministry of Jal Shakti has said that 2836 industrial entities have been identified as Grossly Polluting Industries (GPIs) in the Country by Central Pollution Control Board ( CPCB) which are discharging their effluents in various water bodies including rivers.<br />'' <br />'' In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Jal Shakti Bishweshwar Tudu informed that out of this 2180 industries are operational and 656 are self closed.<br />'' <br />'' He said the 2053 units have been put into the list of complying industries which follow stipulated environmental standards of CPCB before discharging their effluents into river and water bodies.<br />'' <br />''<br />''The minister said a letter of closure directions has been served to 56 industries besides show cause notices to 52 units.</span><br />
