In Assam, 28 people were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident at Kismat Dwarika in Barpeta district this morning. The incident occurred when a truck collided with two small vehicles carrying passengers. Both the ill-fated vehicles were going to Rangia from Dhubri, while the truck was coming from the opposite side.

Barpeta SP, V Shivprasad said that 22 persons died on the spot, while the rest succumbed to their injuries on the way or in hospitals. All the deceased were working as labourers in the brick kiln industry. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to the fault of the truck driver.
