In China, 26 miners have been killed as two lifters in a tin ore mine in central Hunan Province lost control. Rescuers said 19 miners were killed on the spot, and seven others later died in the hospital. There were 31 miners in the two lifters, which plunged because of brake failure this morning. Rescuers said five workers were injured in the accident. Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
