In Uttarakhand, 26 people have been washed in flash floods triggered by heavy rain in Uttar Kashi. Many others are missing. Flash floods have flattened homes and left many pilgrims stranded. Water level of Bhagirathi and Ganga rivers is on the rise. Three jawans of fire services were also killed in Gangotri following heavy rain. Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Almora districts of the state are also affected by incessant rain.
So far around 450 families have been affected by the flood. Relief and rescue work are being undertaken by ITBP and Army. All the major Hydro power projects have been shut down in the state till the situation improves. Schools have been closed in Uttarkashi for the next 5 days. The Uttarakhand government has issued red alert in areas along Ganga. Char Dham Yaatra has been suspended due to bad weather.
