26 deaf children from Meghalaya set to represent India at Silent Olympics in Bulgaria

As many as 26 deaf children from Meghalaya are all set to represent India at the Silent Olympics in Bulgaria later this year. Officials said this in Shillong today. The children had won medals at the recently-concluded National Games for the Deaf in Aurangabad. The winners of gold and silver medals will be participating in the Silent Olympics in Sofia, Bulgaria from July 26 to August 4, 2013. The children, who live in a rehabilitation centre for the deaf run by a Christian NGO at Umiam Khwan in Ri-Bhoi district, were trained by special coaches of the Army Madras Regiment.
