26/11 trial court terminates Kasab's lawyer Kazmi

A new dramatic twist has been occurred in 26/11 Mumbai trial as special court hearing the 26/11 trial has removed Abbas Kazmi as lawyer for Mohammad Ajmal Kasab on Monday, the lone surviving terrorist captured alive during the Mumbai terror attacks last year. The court cited non-cooperation on the part of Kazmi as the reason for his removal. The order on Kazmi's termination came after he refused to consider the court's suggestion to pick out 71 witnesses out of 340 and divided it into 12 categories including claimants of the deceased, panch witnesses and doctors. The court had also asked Kazmi how many witnesses he would like to cross examine from the first category of 71 witnesses. However Kazmi stuck to his stand that he wanted to examine all the 340 witnesses and refused to consider the court's suggestion. The court had earlier accused Kazmi of lying to the court. Abbas Kazmi on Friday had tendered an unconditional apology to the trial court hearing the Mumbai attack case for his remark that he did not care about affidavits of witnesses filed by the prosecution. At that time, Judge Tahaliyani had accepted Kazmi's apology and withdrew his observation that the lawyer was a liar.
