255 candidates to contest in AP bye-elections on June 12

A total 255 candidates are contesting the bye-elections being held on 12th of next month for a Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. After the last day for withdrawal came to close this evening, 13 candidates remained in the fray for Nellore Lok Sabha Constituency while 242 are contesting for 18 assembly seats. State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal told media that two ballet units will be used at each polling station at Rajampet, Tirupati and Ongol as the number of Candidates is more than 16. Despite unrecognised, all the YSR Congress party candidates have been allotted Ceiling Fan as the common election symbol as no other demanded it. Meanwhile, Ongol has maximum 23 candidates in the fray while Polavaram and Narsannapet has minimum 6 candidates.
