25,108 vaccine doses administered during Tika Utsav in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

<span style="color: #222222;">The Tika Utsav has received an overwhelming response from the public in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Directorate of Health Services, DHS has easily achieved the set target of 20 thousand doses during Tika Utsav from 11th-14th April. A total of 25,108 doses have been administered during Tika Utsav.<br />'' <br />'' A continuous hike in the vaccination figures have been observed since the inception of Tika Utsav on 11th April. On the initial day the figure was 2,933 which has reached to 8734 yesterday i.e the last day of Tika Utsav. As a result, the DHS has decided to extend Tiak Utsav in the islands for a few more days. Remotely located islands have also been covered during Tika Utsav by sending flying and special vaccination teams by Helicopter and ship. A flying team had been flagged off to Little Andaman by Pawan Hans Helicopter and  Ship MV LongIsland sent to Chowra in Nicobar for vaccination.<br />'' <br />'' A&N Administration has been in process of extending the coverage of vaccination in these scattered islands by establishing new centres and running a massive awareness campaign. The number of vaccination centres has increased from 13 to more than 30. All the health institutions including PHC's and CHC's across the islands were converted into Covid Vaccination centres to ensure maximum reach. Various departments have worked synergistically to garner maximum output.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, vaccination at the workplace started in Port Blair. On the first day 122 airport and APWD employees were vaccinated. The additional lot of 30 thousand doses reached Port Blair yesterday. The vaccination drive will continue to go on in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as per the centre's guidelines. A Whatsapp number has also been issued by DHS to reach out and report about unvaccinated persons. People above 45 years are now stepping in at vaccination centres in good numbers. </span><br />
