The Chief of Army Staff, General Deepak Kapoor has said that, though the number of cease fire violations from across the border have declined but about 2500 terrorists from 42 terrorist camps are waiting to get an opportunity to sneak into the Indian territory from other side of the border. Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony of unveiling the war memorial ‘Balidan Stambh’ at Jammu yesterday, the Army Chief said that despite a drastic decrease in the number of the incidents of violence on the civilians, the terrorists in the state have increased their strikes on the security forces. He also assured that with the help of government, the army will not allow the cross Line of Control (LOC) routes to be misused for facilitation of militancy. On the occasion, expressing grave concern over the prevailing situation in Pakistan, the Union Minister for New and Non- Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that it is inevitable to decrease the number of army troops in the state when the neighbouring country has been facing the terror attacks almost every day. AIR Jammu Correspondent, Yogesh Sharma reports that while dedicating the war memorial constructed by Army, which is first of its kind in the J&K, to the people, the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah said that, besides, defending the borders, the Indian Army has played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the State. Maintaining that the life in the militancy ridden State is returning to normalcy, he hoped that the day is not far when the Army shall be spared to devote itself completely to the protect the borders. <br/>
