Karnataka Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar today said that 2500 Primary Health Centres in rural areas will be upgraded to provide quality health care to the rural population. He added that in the first phase 250 Primary Health Centres in the state will be upgraded under PPP model. Speaking at the World Health Day in Bengaluru today, he noted that quality health care is the fundamental right of citizens like water and shelter. <br />''<br />''Saying that the government is working in line with a vision to develop basic infrastructure in the health sector, the minister pointed out that 157 new medical colleges including four in Karnataka have been approved across the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power. Before the pandemic there were about five to six thousand oxygenated beds in the Government hospitals in the state, but in just 10 months these have increased six fold to about 35,000 oxygenated beds. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Expressing concern over growing COVID cases, the minister said that the positivity rate is about six to nine per cent in Bengaluru and districts like Mysuru and Kalaburgi too are witness to spike in COVID cases. He informed that the Union Minister for Health has suggested not to neglect the situation and ensure that people follow COVID appropriate behaviour. On the occasion of World Health Day, Dr K Sudhakar pledged to donate his eyes.</span><br />
