250 mandis linked to National Agriculture Market in first phase

A total of 250 mandis have been linked to the e-trading platform under the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) in the first phase. <br/><br/>E-NAM is a pan India electronic portal for sale and purchase of agricultural produce so that farmers get better prices of their produce. The first phase of the e-NAM was launched on 14th of April this year. <br/><br/>Addressing media in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said, government has exceeded the target of linking 200 mandis by the end of last month. <br/><br/>He said, the highest 67 mandis of Uttar Pradesh have been brought under the e-NAM portal followed by 44 in Telengana, 40 in Gujarat, 36 in Haryana and 20 in Madhya Pradesh. Mr Singh also said, government has approved proposals of 14 states for integrating around 400 mandis under the portal. <br/><br/>Mr Singh said, so far over one lakh 53 thousand tonnes of agriculture produce amounting to 421 crore rupees has been transacted through e-NAM platform. The Minister informed that over one lakh 60 thousand farmers and over 46 thousand traders have been registered on the platform. A total of 585 markets are targeted to be integrated with e-NAM by March 2018.
