In Odisha, about 25 percent re-polling has been recorded in nine booths spread over three Parliamentary constituencies upto 12 noon. Re-polling started at 7 this morning in six booths of Niali Assembly constituency under Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat, one booth each of Telkoi and Ghasipura Assembly constituencies under Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat and Aul Assembly constituency under Kendrapara Lok
Sabha seat. Repolling in these booths was ordered forllowing complaints of rigging of the polls and malfunctioning of EVMs.
Our correspondent reports that re-polling in nine booths of Odisha is going on under tight security. Micro observers have been appointed in all the booths, while arrangement of web-casting of the re-polling process have also been made. Though the voters turnout is relatively low in the first hour due to intense heatwave, it is expected to rise in the afternoon hours.
Re-polling will continue till 5 this evening. Re-polling has been ordered in these booths by the Election Commission following allegations of massive rigging and other multiple irregularities including damaging of Electronic Voting Machines. Earlier, polling was held in these booths on 17th of this month along with the second and last phase of elections for 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly seats in the state.
