At least twenty-five people were injured and several homes, churches and other buildings damaged, after the 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the northeast coast of Mindanao island in southern Philippines.<br />'' <br />'' Philippine Seismology Office said the quake struck around 4:42 am at a depth of 11.8 kilometres.It said the seven less intense aftershocks were also felt.<br />'' <br />'' According to the Police Chief Lieutenant Wilson Uanite, patients were also evacuated at the Madrid District Hospital, which sustained cracks on its concrete walls.<br />'' <br />'' The Civil Defence Office in the region said, the impact was also felt in four neighbouring towns, damaging homes, two Catholic churches, a hotel, a gym, a bridge and a public market.<br />'' <br />'' The Philippines is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, an arc of intense seismic activity that stretches from quake-prone Japan through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin.<br />'' <br />'' The country's most recent deadly 6.3-magnitude quake occurred in April when 11 people died in north of the capital Manila.<br />
