Dorjee reports from Kathmandu that the meeting convened by the Constitutional Committee mandated to draft the new statute with the leaders of all political parties in the constituent assembly today was aimed at finding ways to ensure timely drafting of the new constitution with just 80 day left to meet the May 28 dateline. The constituent assembly is meeting later today to revise the schedule of drafting the constitution for the tenth time after it failed to prepare the first draft of the statute on March 5th dateline set earlier. The delay in the process of drafting the new constitution was caused mainly due to lack of consensus among the major political parties on the basic framework of the constitution, such as the modality of federalism, the form of government and the judicial system.
