In Iraq, at least 25 people were killed and some 70 others injured on Thursday in two separate bomb blasts in the northern city of Kirkuk. According to police sources, the blasts took place in the morning rush hours when a sticky bomb attached to a car detonated at a parking lot in front of a police headquarters in the central city of Kirkuk, some 250 kilometres from Baghdad. Afterwards, a booby-trapped car parked at the scene went off as Iraqi security forces and dozens of onlookers gathered at the site of the first blast. According to sources, the powerful car bomb explosion destroyed parts of the police headquarters and many of the killed and wounded were policemen.
