State-owned Rural Electrification Corporation on Monday reported 25 per cent increase in its second quarter net profit to over 618 crore rupees. It is up by 124 crore rupees in the same period last fiscal. REC's total income increased 2,082.12 crore rupees during the second quarter ended September 2010. The Rural electrification Corporation's Chief managing Director, Mr. J M Pathak said in New Delhi that only over 33 thousand villages are left to be electrified in the country. Mr. Pathak said the campaign to electrify the remaining villages is on under different schemes.
