The Lok Sabha took up the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2017 and the Repealing and Amending ( Second) Bill, 2017 together for discussion yesterday. These bills seek to repeal certain enactments and to amend certain other enactments. Moving the bills, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said 245 old and obsolete laws, amendments and Ordinances, which are not relevant at present will be repealed. <br/><br/>He said it shows the government's commitment of being progressive and pro-reformative. Mr Prasad said the Narendra Modi government had set up a two-member committee to identify all obsolete and irrelevant Acts for repealing them. The Committee had recommended repealing 1824 such laws. The Minister said the government has so far repealed 1183 laws during last three years.<br/>Quick Reply
