24 militants killed as NATO forces repel major Taliban attack in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, Taliban insurgents wearing US military uniforms have attacked two coalition bases in eastern Khost province. The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force said coalition forces repelled both attacks, killing 24 militants. It said there were no coalition casualties in the fighting. Five attackers were captured. The Taliban said about 30 fighters were involved in the two separate assaults. The insurgents attacked the Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost province and nearby Camp Chapman early this morning. The troops called in helicopters to assist in repelling the attacks.
