24-member Bangladesh delegation to visit India

A 24 member delegation of officials and businesspersons led by Bangladesh Commerce Minister Faruk Khan will be visiting India on a four day visit beginning fromThursday. India and Bangladesh will be signing an agreement to set up border haats following talks between Mr. Faruk Khan and the Commerce Minister of India Mr. Anand Sharma which is scheduled to be held on Saturday. The two countries had agreed to set up border haats along the international border in the northeast when Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited India in January this year. Bangladesh will open two border haats one at Baliamari of Kurigram,and another at Laoghar of Sunamganj while India will also open two border haats at Kalaichar and Balat in Meghalaya. The delegation will also be interacting with the members of FICCI and CII to look at ways to strengthen bilateral trade. It is also expected that a number of memorandums of Understandings and agreements on trade and investment will be signed between companies and entrepreuners from both the countries during the visit.
