In Iraq, twenty-four civilians were killed in an attack waged by gunmen on a village in Hawr Rajab area, south Baghdad district of al-Mahmoudiya.Voice of Iraq news agency quoting the official spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Command Qassem Atta, reported today that unidentified gunman attacked the village of al-Bu Sayfi last night and shot down 24 people. Those killed include five women and a number of awakening tribal fighters and security personnel. A curfew was announced in the area as a search raid launched resulted in the arrest of 17 suspects.The south Baghdad areas of al-Radwaniya, al-Mahmoudiya and al-Yousufiya, which have been completely under the control of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network during the years 2005, 2006 and 2007, were the theater of several mass killings that claimed the lives of hundreds of Iraqis.
