24 injured in Andhra Pradesh violence

In Andhra Pradesh, 24 persons injured in violence between two political groups in Mehabubabad in Warangal district this morning following Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy began Consoling Tour or Oodarpu Yatra. <br/><br/>The situation turned violent when more than 200 people, both the supporters and protesters of the tour have indulged in stone pelting and security gunmen opened fire injuring 9 persons. 13 persons including 8 policemen were injured in stone pelting. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Director General of Police Girish Kumar said 7 cases have been registered in the incident and the Congress MP has been taken into preventive arrest and later released on personal bond. <br/><br/>The DGP has said former MLA K Surekha has been receiving treatment after she attempted to commit suicide and sporadic incidents of violence took place in other parts of the state following the violence.<br/><br/>Clarifying on the Home Minister Sabitha Reddy stating one person died in the incident, the DGP has said, initially the department got the information that one person died in the firing. However, the person who was critically injured has been under treatment.<br/><br/>He added that in view of the call given by several organisations for Telangana bandh tomorrow, police have taken all necessary preventive measures. The Telangana Joint Action Committee, Telangana Rastra Samithi and Student Organisations of Osmania and Kaktiya universities have called for Telanagna bandh tomorrow.
