24-hour bandh in WB’s three hill sub divisions

In West Bengal,a 24-hour bandh is being observed in three hill sub divisions-Darjeeling,Kurseong and Kalimpong from this morning. The bandh has been called by the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council's, DGHC,casual workers affiliated to the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha demanding regularization of jobs. The agitators organised Chakka Jam at different points in Darjeeling hills and latter demonstrated at the offices of the District Magistrate,SDOs of Kalimpong and Kurseong and also at DGHC Administrator' office till late last night. The Sangathan's President Mahendra Subba told newsmen that the demonstration would continue till their demands are met by the authorities. <br/><br/>In West Bengal, normal life was affected in Darjeeling Hills due to a 24-hr bandh which began this morning. The call has been given by the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council's, DGHC, casual workers affiliated to the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha. They are demanding for regularization of jobs.<br/> <br/>Shops, markets were closed and vehicles kept off the roads in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong sub-divisions. Educational institutions and tea gardens were, however, exempted from the strike call. <br/>
