Concerned by the great risks confronting doctors, nurses, ward boys and other care-givers in the COVID-19 hospitals, a 23-year old, Instrumentation Engineer named Pratik Tirodkar, from Thane district in Maharashtra, came out with the idea of developing a robot which would cut away the requirement of physical contact of nurses and ward boys with the patient.
”
” Pratik made this 'Coro-bot', inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Make in India' and his clarion call for innovation. Currently it is being used at Holy cross Hospital in Kalyan. Most importantly Pratik and his team has created a special app to operate this robot from any location in the world based on the idea of Internet of Things (IoT).
”
” This is a first anywhere in the world that this technique is being deployed in the medical field. AIR Correspondent reports, with a noble thought of helping the frontline COVID-19 warriors and also on the lines of fulfilling the dream of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Pratik Tirodkar, an engineer from Thane district has made a 'coro-bot' which delivers food, water and medicines to Corona patients in the hospitals without necessity of physical presence of nurses and other care-givers.
”
” It can interact with them by using camera. Patients are cautioned through audio reminders to sanitise their hands before they pick up things from trays. The robot has 3 trays which can store various things. 'Coro-bot' not only allows sanitisation by users but it also sanitises itself to avoid spreading of viruses through touching of its surfaces.
”
” Impressed by its performance at one hospital, courtesy Shiv Sena Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde, around two dozen hospitals in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have ordered for the 'Coro-bot', which Pratik’s company PNT Solutions hopes to deliver within a month.
”
” Now, Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde has indicated that 'Coro-bot' is likely to be deployed in over a dozen other government and private hospitals soon in the district. On another positive note, in Nashik district of Maharashtra, out of the 87 children who had tested positive for the Coronavirus in the last two months, 56 have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals. The district health administration said that the remaining 31 children have been responding well to the treatment and are on the road to recovery.
”
