23 writers including Cyrus Mistry, Kula Saikia given Sahitya Akademi Awards

Eminent English writer Cyrus Mistry, Assamese writer Kula Saikia and Hindi poet Ramdaras Mishra are among twenty three writers who were today conferred on the Sahitya Akademi Awards for the year 2015.The awards were presented to them by the President of Sahitya Akademi Dr Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari at a function in New Delhi for their outstanding contribution in the field of literature. <br/><br/>Mr Mistry was awarded for his book -Chronicle of a Corpse Bearer while Mr Saikia was honoured for his book Akashar Chhabi Ary Anyanya Galpa and Mr Mishra was awarded for his writings Aag Ki Hansi. Besides, Kashmiri writer Bashir Bhadarwahi, Malayalam novelist K R Meera, Punjabi writer Jaswinder Singh, Sanskrit poet Ram Shanker Awasthi ,Maithili writer Man Mohan Jha, Urdu Journalist Shamim Tariq, Telugu writer Volga, Tamil writer Aa Madhavan and Marathi writer Arun Khopkar were among the awardees. <br/><br/>Other awardees are Bodo poet Brajendra Kumar Bodo, Dogri writer Dhian Singh, Gujarati writer Rasik Shah, Kannada writer K V Thirumalesh, Konkani writer Uday Bhembre, Manipuri poet Kshetrimayum Rajen Singh, Nepali writer Gupta Pradhan, Odia writer Bibhuti Pattanaik, Rajasthani writer Madhu Acharya, Santali writer Rabi Lal Tudu and Sindhi writer Maya Rahi. The award carries a engraved copper plaque and a cheque of one lakh rupees.
