In Afghanistan, at least 22 policemen and 45 militants were killed after Taliban attacked police checkpoints in Maywand district of country's southern province of Kandahar overnight. <br/><br/>Provincial police spokesman, Zia Durrani today said, Taliban militants launched wide offensives on 15 security posts in Jagrum, Qala-e-Shahmir, Khak-e-Chopan and surrounding areas in Maywand district,last night and the clashes lasted until early today. <br/><br/>He said about 15 policemen and 35 militants were also wounded during the overnight and predawn fighting. According to Durani, Taliban failed to gain control of the check posts and retreated. Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident.
